Judge Emeritus Lawrence Quintano reappointed PCAC Chairman by unanimous vote

Judge Emeritus Lawrence Quintano has been reappointed as Chairman of the Permanent Commission Against Corruption (PCAC), with a unanimous parliamentary vote in favour of a motion presented by the Minister for Justice and Reform of the Construction sector, Jonathan Attard.

This was the first time that the Chairman of the Permanent Commission Against Corruption will be appointed by the President of Malta, acting in accordance with a resolution of the House with at least two thirds of the votes of all members of the House.

Minister Attard described Judge Emeritus Lawrence Quintano as a person of great integrity who served in various roles, including as a Judge, Magistrate and even in the Attorney General’s office.

“There is no doubt that Judge Quintano is highly prepared to lead this Commission with the maturity, responsibility and the necessary balance, at this time when the Government is committed to continue strengthening its resources”, said Minister Attard.

The Government is providing all the necessary resources for this Commission to continue to carry out its work, including an increase in human resources, where a recruitment process is underway which will further strengthen the organisational capacity of the same Commission. There is also an investment process in the creation of a digital register.

The Government looks forward to strengthening the activity of this Commission under the chairmanship of Judge Emeritus Lawrence Quintano and with the input of the other members of the Commission
