Another edition of the ‘I Choose – I Choose My Career’ fair opens its doors

On Friday 19 July, the event ‘I Choose – I choose my career’, a careers fair that takes place every year and is open to State, Church and independent school students have completed compulsory education. This event coincides with the release of MATSEC results with the aim of assisting Year 11 (Form 5) students to evaluate their options, seek advice and make the right choices .

While launching the careers fair, Minister Clifton Grima congratulated the students who passed the exams and encouraged those who are aspiring for better results. “The I Choose Fair is another opportunity we are giving every year through which students can explore more career options and it is an excellent opportunity for students to gain adequate knowledge about different courses they can follow after compulsory education. It is a fair that brings the student to what the educational sector offers for them to continue their education, as well as about the emerging needs in the world of work”, said Minister Grima.

Minister Grima reiterated that the main objective of the careers fair is to assist students to make informed choices for their future. He encouraged all the 11th year students to attend the I Choose fair and thus get all the help they need for the important choice for their future.

Other students who have just finished postsecondary or tertiary school and members of the public who are interested in continuing their studies or acquiring information about different careers, will also find the information and support they need to make informed choices during this -a fair. The students who want more help after the fair can also contact the career advisors of the various colleges in Malta and Gozo and there they will find a guidance service for professional careers.

This educational fair is open on Friday 19 July between 16:00 and 20:00 and Saturday 20 July from 09:00 to 13:00 at the Excelsior hotel, the -Floriana. More information about ‘I Choose – I Choose My Career’ can be found on the site https://education.gov.mt/i-choose/ .

On the ‘Explore More-My Journey Portal’ website, there is more information on different careers and post secondary courses available locally. The information is presented interactively with short videos with direct experiences from people working in the industry and a short quiz that helps students identify the job sector that is of interest to them.
