Cycling marathon will be organized by the Department of Public Works in collaboration with Dar tal-Providenza

Details have been announced about the “Bike Ride 2024”, a bike marathon that will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, with the main purpose of raising money for Dar tal-Providenza. This marathon is being organized by the Department of Public Works in collaboration with Dar tal-Providenza.

It was explained that the route will leave from the National Park of Malta in Ta Qali, a project that was recently opened by the Department of Public Works and will turn towards Imtarfa. It passes through Rabat and under Mdina for the Gomorrino Bridge, another project of the department. After a short break the cyclists return to the National Park. The arrangements for this marathon were made in coordination with Transport Malta, the Police force as well as the Red Cross who will be offering immediate medical assistance in case of need.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia encouraged public participation. “Very satisfied with the initiative of the department which will not only promote the alternative use of transport but also aims to support Dar tal-Providenza which does so much valuable and necessary work. I encourage you to join us so that together we can do our part and support the residents of this House.”

Present for the launch was also the Director of Dar tal-Providenza, Fr Martin Micallef where he thanked the department for the initiative. He mentioned how such initiatives give them a sense of courage to continue working at Dar tal-Providenza which currently has 115 residents.
