Malta will send humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza. Through the Department of Civil Protection, supplies of food, water and medicines will be sent to a people who are currently facing great difficulties in accessing these important resources.
The Prime Minister Robert Abela together with the Minister for the Interior, Security and Work Byron Camilleri visited the final preparations of the operation at the Civil Protection station in Ħal Far so that aid can be sent . They were given information that through the agreement of the European Civil Protection mechanism, Malta will be giving help to ensure that it ends up with the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Prime Minister Robert Abela pointed out how with this much needed help, Malta continues to be a voice in favor of dialogue and peace and reiterated our country’s position in favor of a permanent cessation of hostilities. He said that we continue to convey that voice in all forums beyond our shores because it conveys good for humanity. In Hal Far before the aid leaves for Gaza, the Prime Minister praised the dedication in the work shown by the Civil Protection officers who once again are showing what defines Malta.
Minister Byron Camilleri said that our country will continue to be in solidarity with other peoples in a difficult time not only as was done through operations outside our country by Maltese officials in Turkey, Greece and Libya , but also with help sent as it will happen now. The minister concluded by saying that Malta will continue to be the tool for peace and humanitarian aid and not for war.
Also present was the Palestinian Ambassador to Malta Fadi Hanania, who thanked the Maltese Government for its contribution not only in favor of peace but also in humanitarian aid and solidarity.
