A 71-year-old woman from Zejtun died after getting into difficulties while swimming at St Thomas Bay in Marsascala on Thursday afternoon.
Police said Red Cross members and a medical team provided assistance at the scene but the woman was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Mater Dei Hospital.
