The Minister for the Economy, European Funds and Lands, Silvio Schembri, yesterday evening officially opened the 64th edition of the Malta Trade Fair. “The trade fair has always been one of the main events in the Maltese summer calendar, and over time it has become an expected outing for the whole family,” said Minister Schembri.
He added that like the economy of our country, the trade fair is dynamic and with the passage of time it has changed and technology has also brought about a change in the exhibited products, but it has continued to maintain one strong element over time, the one that connects the exhibitor with the consumer.
“The trade fair started after the Second World War as a project to stimulate the economy of that time and this also remained a present element in the fair, especially last year when we saw the Malta Trade Fair again ‘ it starts to be staged again after a two-year break due to Covid, and today it is much bigger,” said Minister Schembri.
Anita Mifsud, the CEO of the MFCC, where once again the Malta Trade Fair is being staged, said that this year they wanted to combine two typical elements of the Maltese summer, the trade fair and the festivities and therefore they created a Maltese holiday atmosphere.
Abigail Mamo, the CEO of the Chamber for Small and Medium Businesses, said that since its establishment from the first editions in San Anton and later at the Trade Fair Grounds in Naxxar and today at the MFCC, the a fair has always been a mirror of what is happening in our country and every year it always offers new and innovative products for the Maltese consumer.
Minister Schembri thanked the social partners, the organizers, and the exhibitors who all together make this fair, and above all the consumers who remain the centerpiece of the fair’s success.
