Music Exchange Camp free of charge for Maltese and Gozitan singers and composers aged 16 and over

For the first time, Public Broadcasting Services Ltd. will be organising a Music Exchange Camp free of charge for Maltese and Gozitan singers and composers aged 16 and over. The initiative will consist of two components: collaborative music workshops where Maltese producers will work together with foreign producers and Maltese singers, as well as a series of lectures by professionals, both local and foreign, including those from Universal Music.

Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici said, “Local producers and Maltese songwriters will have the opportunity to meet, collaborate, and work with internationally renowned songwriters, to share our Maltese culture, new ideas, and create stronger networking between them.”

“Through this initiative, we will continue to provide more opportunities for Maltese and Gozitan singers and composers and more collaborations between artists and Maltese producers and productions with individuals who work in the same field of the music industry from around the world,” Minister Bonnici explained.

It is expected that by the end of the week, a group of musicians and singers will have created around 18 song demos through this project. The artists will have the choice of whether to submit their song for the MESC 2024 or not. Applications for MESC 2024 will open soon and be open to everyone. Although, it is not mandatory for individuals who participate in this music camp to apply for MESC.

In addition to this, the general public, including singers and music producers, will have the opportunity to participate in various discussions that will be held throughout the week with international music professionals. The aim of these activities is to provide Maltese people interested in this field with more knowledge about the best practices for showcasing their talents to the international community and to provide networking opportunities with foreign professionals. Lessons will be open to the general public who are interested in the music writing or singing industries.
