Hamrun chairman resigns: Wants to sign as player for club

Business magnate Joseph Portelli has resigned as Chairman of Hamrun Spartans so that he can sign for the club as a player.

The Malta Football Association confirmed that he had resigned as chairman but said they might not accept his resignation and in the event he could apply to apply to play for the club, said that the MFA might choose not to accept such a request.

The MFA said the matter iwould be referred to the competent bodies in compliance with its Reputational Risk Management Policy – a document that is public and which is endorsed by its Executive Board.
