BOV Premier League leaders Hamrun Spartans continued their winning run with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over bottom side Pieta Hotspurs.
Spartans maintain an eleven point advantage over Gzira Utd in second place.
It was not all plain sailing against Pieta. Corbolan put Hamrun in front before the break only to see Pieta draw level late in the second half. Hamrun needed a penalty ten minutes from time to clinch the points and extend their winning run.
It now leaves the trailing pack wallowing in their wake. Gzira, Birkirkara and Hibernians occupy the remaining places in the top four and the race for European football is well and truly on.
