In the presence of the Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality Byron Camilleri and the Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms and Equality Rebecca Buttigieg, two new collective agreements were signed which will see improvements in conditions of all staff of the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE).
These agreements were signed by the Secretary of the GWU, Government and Public Entities section, Kendrick Bondin, on behalf of the workers, and by Renee Laiviera, Commissioner of NCPE.
Through the agreement, there will be an improvement in the conditions and wages of workers, both those in managerial positions and workers in other roles.
These agreements are effective from 1 January last and are valid until 2024.
In a comment, Minister Byron Camilleri expressed satisfaction with what was agreed and stressed that this commission has a crucial role to play not only in promoting equality at all levels of the society in which we live, but above all in ensuring that every person is know its rights and obligations. “It is important that as a government we continue to ensure that this entity continues to be strengthened and the greatest tool to do so is precisely by investing in workers,” concluded Dr Camilleri.Parliamentary Secretary Rebecca Buttigieg stressed that they will continue to work to ensure that workers are given everything they need to be more efficient in their work, with a financial package that reflects this work.
“The commission is a body that works daily to ensure that the core values of equality are protected and promoted for all, so this agreement will continue to help strengthen its work towards a just and equal society.”
Also present for the signing was Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Psaila.
