SportMalta joins sports associations for philanthropic purposes

Details of Hospice Malta Festa Sport have been announced, an activity that will be held by SportMalta together with various sports associations to raise funds for Hospice Malta. The first edition of Hospice Malta Festa Sport will take place on the 29th of June in a number of sports facilities and the proceeds from the donations will go to complete St. Michael Hospice, the first palliative care facility in Malta.

“SportMalta works with various governmental and even non-governmental entities to continue to make a difference in people’s lives. In this Sports Feast we are seeing how a government entity and the voluntary sector together with sports associations are conveying a message, that with professional work, we can make a difference. That way, you have a sports audience that is making a philanthropic contribution, “said Education, Sports, Youth, Research and Innovation Minister Clifton Grima.

Kenneth Delia, Chief Executive Officer of Hospice Malta, spoke about the work of this organization and said that Hospice has been offering palliative care services in the community for the past 33 years and this year is approaching the completion of the National project of St. Michael Hospice which is expected to open towards the beginning of next year. “This will allow us to offer new services and expand existing services. Suffice it to say that we offer a service to around 1,300 families in need, ”said Delia.

“With this collaboration Sport Malta is going beyond its work in the sports sector, but it is combining sport with a noble goal, which through its facilities and other facilities, helps in the mission of Hospice Malta, which gives a better future to the patients who are provided with services by this organization, ”said the Chief Executive of Sport Malta Mark Cutajar.
