Liverpool win FA Cup with penalty shootout against Chelsea

Liverpool won the FA Cup 6-5 on penalties to lift their second trophy of the season and keep alive hopes of winning an historic quadruple.

An absorbing final at a packed Wembley ended goal-less after ninety minutes and extra time and once again fell to penalties to decide the winner.

Mane had the chance to win the shoot-out for Liverpool but his countryman Mendy saved his spot-kick.

That lifted Chelsea who then levelled the tie before Tsimikas fired home the winning penalty.

Joy for Liverpool, agony once again for Chelsea.

Liverpool and Chelsea played out a nail-biting penalty shoot-out in the League Cup final, the Anfield side winning 21-20.

Both sides created good opportunities to win in normal time but Alison and Mendy kept a clean sheet to send the final to spot-kicks.
