Government for the People: An investment of € 2.75 million to help students have apprenticeship opportunities

This government strongly believes that for the economy to continue to grow in a post-pandemic scenario, companies must continue to invest in apprenticeships to have future employees who are well qualified and trained. The apprenticeship is considered by the government to be very important because it helps to apply what the student has strived and worked for during his / her study, in practice. It will therefore have a smooth transition from the school bench to the workplace.

To this end, the Ministry of Finance and Labor, together with the Ministry of Education, are allocating a budget of € 750,000 for this year and € 2 million for the year 2022 in support of apprenticeships. through MCAST.

“Therefore, today we are launching this € 2.75 million aid plan, which is aimed at industry to encourage them to give apprenticeship opportunities to students after this time of challenges we have had due to pandemic ”, explained the Minister of Education Justyne Caruana.

Minister Justyne Caruana also said that this shows the government’s commitment to apprenticeships with a massive investment of almost € 3 million which will go to help employers to hire our students for apprenticeships. The minister said that this government strongly believes in the best resource it has, the human resource, and therefore it continues to invest in it and in the future of our country.

“This investment is not only in the student,” continued Minister Justyne Caruana, “but we are also investing in the private sector because we believe that the private sector, when employing apprentices, will also be offering an opportunity to employment and this is the basis and culmination of our work as a government. That of having a strong education, a strong employment sector, and therefore a strong economy of our country “.

Minister of Finance and Labor Clyde Caruana said that this aid that will be given to the private sector is very important so that the difference between the demand and supply of students that is currently being experienced. due to the pandemic being addressed. “We are giving this financial incentive to continue to encourage the industry to continue investing in Maltese talent.”

The Minister of Finance and Labor Clyde Caruana said that the economic recovery and the strengthening of our country’s finances depend on the labor market. Our country will be able to address economic growth, which will be among the best in Europe for the year 2022, because over the last few months, this government has kept the labor market strong.

He also explained how over the last eight years, our country’s finances have been strengthened because the labor market has been strengthened. Therefore, through such schemes, once Maltese students are studying and eventually find themselves in the workplace, the economic activity they will be generating will contribute to the strengthening of our country.

Minister Clyde Caruana went on to say that thanks to the work being done within the Ministry of Education, our country can have the much needed human resource to ensure that our country’s economy is strong. for this government to continue to ensure the best living for Maltese and Gozitan families.

We currently have 1,675 students recruited as apprentices, and we will continue to work to ensure that more students benefit from apprenticeships. ”
