Boris Johnson to face inquiry into apartment expenses

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been accused of asking for donations to refurbish his apartment above No 11 Downing Street, an allegation he strongly denies saying he himself covered the cost.

The PM’s plans for donors to help with the refurbishment costs were slammed by his former advisor Dominic Cummings who said they were “unethical, foolish and possibly illegal”.

Now the Electoral Commission has opened a formal investigation saying “there are reasonable grounds to suspect that an offence, or offences may have occurred”.
