Operations at Mount Carmel Hospital are progressing gradually

Structural and renovation work in various wards at Mount Carmel Hospital has been going on for months now and will continue. This is part of the regeneration plan of the same hospital.

This is contrary to a statement by the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN) which tried to give the wrong impression that to date no investment has been made and no works have been carried out at Mount Carmel Hospital.

Meanwhile, a completely renovated ward will be opened in the coming weeks, the ‘Female Dual Diagnostic Unit’, which will accommodate up to 12 patients with drug-related mental health challenges. This ward has been designed with openings and anti-ligature equipment as well as an outdoor recreation area so that patients have the best care in a safe environment.

Extensive work is underway in two other women’s wards, FW2 and FW7, as well as in a full block, Block 1, in the same hospital, which is expected to be completed by next year. Work has begun on a recreational garden for young patients next to the same patients’ section, and on a therapeutic garden for all hospital patients, which will replace Block 10, which is also expected to be completed by the end of the year. next year.

This is in addition to the ongoing day-to-day maintenance work at the hospital in general.

These extensive works are being carried out with an investment of tens of millions of euros.
