Malta take on Slovakia in their second Group H European qualifier in Trnava tonight.
Despite an opening loss to Russia, who reached the quarter finals of World Cup 2018, Malta produced a solid performance, capped by Joseph Mbong’s goal.
Tonight’s opponents are currently ranked above Russia but coach Devis Mangia was positive when speaking to journalists ahead of tonight’s game.
Devis Mangia said “The performance was OK but we have to think that we can do better and now we have to think about this game. Slovakia and Russia have different football ideas. Russia play more direct football, Slovakia like to have more possession. I like their style. They play good football in my opinion. “
