Watch: Agreement on police officers affected by Covid-19

An agreement was reached between the Ministry of Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement and the Police Officers Union (POU) within the General Workers’ Union (GWU) on working conditions related to compulsory quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through this agreement, and in view of the direction issued by the government yesterday on public service allowances, the police will not be losing certain allowances to which they are entitled when they are following a period of compulsory quarantine. an order from the Public Health Authorities or while on sick leave because they are positive for COVID-19.

At a meeting between Interior Minister, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri and the Police Union it was explained that the government has every intention of continuing to support the police who are seen as front-liners in the fight against COVID-19. In fact, it has done so with various initiatives over the last few years and will continue to do so in the future.
