Strengthen work with NGOs in the rescue sector

Minister for Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri presents donations to NGOs

The Ministry of Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement has further strengthened its collaboration with voluntary organizations working in the rescue sector.

These organizations not only get a chance to cooperate, particularly with the Department of Civil Protection, but have also been awarded a grant to help them operate.

In a talk with Minister Byron Camilleri, representatives of the organizations spoke about the work they are doing and how they managed to cope this year, which was a particular one due to the pandemic.

On this occasion, Minister Camilleri presented more than € 38,000 in grants to seven entities. Until a few years ago it was one entity that used to get this type of aid but today this aid is spreading more.

Minister Camilleri said that it was a wonderful occasion where he met with voluntary organizations that take part in the fields of rescue and first aid, among others. “We talked about their contribution, the role they have played this year and their plans for the future. I also presented grants to the various associations that together amount to thirty-eight thousand euros. While investing heavily in our resources as a country, we consider civil society to be an important partner. To this end we support these NGOs and even support them to carry out more projects. I encourage people to come to them and give them some volunteer time. This is because the work within them gives great satisfaction “, said Minister Camilleri.
