Sides remain far apart, Ursual von der Leyen tells EU leaders

At the Brussels Summit, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told EU leaders that “positions remain apart on fundamental issues”.

Differences between EU and UK negotiators on so-called level playing field provisions and fisheries remain with both sides preparing for a final deadline next Sunday.

Prime Minister Robert Abela and the other leaders have been discussing further coordination on COVID-19, climate change, security and external relations as well as taking part in a Euro Summit today focusing on the banking union and the capital markets union.
