Malta and the United Arab Emirates sign Memorandum of Understanding for the Mutual Recognition of Driving Licences

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg and Sheikh Said Bin Zayed Al Nahyan concluded and signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Mutual Recognition of Driving Licences, which will come into force on 8 November 2020.

By virtue of this agreement, Maltese citizens with a valid residence permit in the United Arab Emirates and likewise UAE nationals resident in Malta may visit the driving license issuing authority in their respective area of residence and have their own driving licence exchanged for a local one.

This Memorandum of Understanding will remain valid for an indefinite period.
