Wales to reintroduce coronavirus lockdown

Wales First Minister Mark Drakeford

Wales is to impose a 17-day lockdown from next Friday, the Welsh government has announced.

First Minister Mark Drakeford said the move, described as a “circuit breaker”, would be a “short, sharp shock”.

People will be told to stay at home and pubs, restaurants, hotels and non-essential shops must shut.

Places of worship will close except for funerals and weddings.

The announcement follows rising case numbers in Wales and increasing hospital admissions

The circuit break will last until Monday 9 November
