Restrictions on Covid-19 funerals revised

Following an evaluation process by the World Health Organization on the guidelines for burial of people with COVID and which has led to a review of existing practices, Malta will also, following an internal evaluation, be reviewing the burial process.

From now on, relatives of people who have died of Covid-19 will have up to 24 hours to bury their relatives. It will also be possible to hold a funeral, in churches and places of worship, according to the same rules that currently apply in churches.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, our country has always followed the guidelines of the World Health Organization and the ECDC on every aspect. This includes burial of people who have died while being positive with Covid-19.
