The Ministry of Health would like to clarify that the person who died yesterday while positive with Covid-19, was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital for the first time on 9 August.
As is practice a Covid-19 test had been performed which was negative. His condition worsened on August 23, when another test confirmed that he had Covid-19.
In the ward where the elderly patient was admitted the necessary contact tracing had been done and none of the rest of the patients and staff tested positive for Covid-19.
The patient was transferred to the IDU on August 24, where he died on Monday, August 31.
