The Minister for Gozo, Clint Camilleri, visited Xlendi, where at the initiative of the Ministry a new lighting system was installed using solar energy. The Minister said that this pilot project, which includes 13 poles with solar lights, drastically reduced the light pollution in the area.

He explained that light pollution has been taken into account and so these new lights are being turned on as and when needed. This is with the use of intelligent lights with motion sensors, so there is light only when needed.

Minister Camilleri stated that it is the environment around us that suffers from the pollution we cause, including through light, and therefore this initiative is a clear demonstration that the Ministry has at its heart the protection of the environment and which constantly works for a better Gozo.

Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri concluded by saying that this solar energy system means cleaner energy for Xlendi Bay.
