Prime Minister Joseph Muscat begins an official visit to Russia today with a meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
Joseph Muscat is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech and Foreign Affairs Minister George Vella together with a trade delegation.
The two leaders are expected to sign bilateral agreements as well as sharing talks on education, culture, tourism and trade and investment.
These will be the first talks between the prime ministers of the two countries since 1992.
Next year the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries will be celebrated. Moscow and Valletta agree that Muscat’s visit to Moscow will allow to strengthen relations between Russia and Malta and give an impetus to developing bilateral relations in the future.
