In his parliamentary reply to the Budget, Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil said that he would withdraw the €360m Electrogas State if he is elected prime minister and he would also remove the LNG tanker from Marsaxlokk.
Dr Busuttil slammed the government for presenting a “cosmetic” budget.
He attacked the government over it’s housing plan and the projects for Gozo saying that so far nothing had materialized.
The Labour government he said had no long term future plan for Malta.
The government’s plans to protect the future of Air Malta also came under attack, he was critical of the use of gas energy and asked why fuel prices had not been again reduced.
He did praise the government for removing the income tax on pensions and reviewing the tax on dividends, two proposals put forward by the Nationalist Party.
He said the government had plans for a congestion tax and parking against payment, to ease traffic congestion, a claim totally refutted by Transport Malta.
Simon Busuttil said he would launch an investigation into the Panama Papers but did not condemn the Deputy Leader of the Nationalist Party Beppe Fenech Adami who is alleged to have links with a Dutch company which is accused of money laundering and drug smuggling.
