People smugglers should be considered as criminals and should be brought before international courts.
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was addressing the plenary of the Summit on Immigration in the United Nations building in New York.
The Prime Minister led a round-table on immigration cases together with Hungary.
During the plenary Joseph Muscat said that Malta has direct experience and received thousands of immigrants over the years. However, Malta still offered to take part in immigrant relocation programmes from Italy and Greece and had even offered to participate in the European Union mechanism for migrant relocation.
