European leaders to meet in Malta next year

Following a meeting with European Council President Donald Trump at Castille, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat announced in a tweet that “Agreed wt @eucopresident that #EU leaders will meet in #Malta beginning 2017 to increase momentum for new idea of #Europe -JM #MaltaSummit.”

Prime Minister Muscat said that the EU27, now the Britain has voted to leave the EU,  would start deciding how to go about implementing the conclusions reached during the Bratislava summit.

Donald Tusk said the EU was facing a critical moment in its history with migration, the Brexit  vote and the Ukraine turmoil all challenges that lie ahead.
“However, I am sure that Malta has the best people and is the best country to take on the presidency of the EU at this moment in time,” he said.
