Malta begins World Cup campaign today against Scotland

Malta’s World Cup campaign begins today with the first match in Group F against Scotland at Ta’Qali.

Coach Pietro Ghedin says he wants his players to give everything on the pitch. With no major injury concerns he should have a full strength squad at his disposal.

Scottish boss Gordon Strachan has had plenty of concerns ahead of tonight’s game.

Regular captain Scott Brown has retired from international football which means a return as captain for West Brom skipper Darren Fletcher.

Strachan also has injury problems in defence and mid-field and may have to rely on some new faces in his starting line-up.
