Żejtun councillor Joan Agius has been awarded the Peace Lab’s B’Hilti Wasalt award for her work within the community despite suffering personnel heartache.
The award, supported by APS Bank and launched last year, honours people who have overcome hardships and who have also managed to help others.
Ms Agius has had to cope with the loss of a daughter and recover from a traffic accident yet she still found time for other..
She launched activity programmes for children, the elderly and disabled.
