Bail revoked in drug smuggling case

A Gozitan man who was given bail in a drug smuggling case has had his bail revoked.

Quarry worker Joseph Rodney Grima, aged 23, from Ghajnsielem, Gozo, was charged with importing and possession of 15 kilos of cocaine.

The drugs had been hidden in a Mercedes car that was being transported to Malta.

Last Friday, Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona granted Grima bail against a deposit of €20,000, a personal guarantee of €50,000 and limiting his movement.

But the Attorney General had immediately appealed the bail, a move that was upheld by Madam justice Edwina Grima  who ordered that Grima be re-arrested.
