Four dead as explosions rock Thailand tourist areas

More bomb blasts have been reported in Thailand including two in the popular tourist destination of Hua Hin and two on the island of Phuket.

They come after a Thai woman was killed and around 20 people injured including several Britons in twin explosions in Hua Hin on Thursday evening.

The first two explosions occurred overnight on a busy street in the tourist city of Hua Hin, which was hit again by another blast on Friday morning. The city is home to a swathe of beachfront resorts as well as a royal palace.

Police and Thai media reported other blasts the southern cities of Phuket, Trang and Surat Thani.

Police say another person was killed in the latest attack there and three wounded.

For almost ten years now, Thailand has been plagued by political violence including bombings.

The British Embassy in Thailand is urging tourists in the country to exercise “extreme caution” and “avoid public places”.
