The Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz in Gozo has completed renovation and improvement work with an investment of €10 million over a two-year period. Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by the Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri, visited this investment, which was described as symbolising the trust that hotel owners in our country have in the Maltese economy.

A trust that is being translated into further continuous investment in order to offer a high-quality experience to tourists visiting our country. Together with the hotel management, the Prime Minister closely observed the work carried out on the rooms and other public spaces on the property, such as the hotel’s entrance and gardens. In fact, it was explained that this project was carried out with full respect for quality and sustainability and that it led to the creation of 120 jobs, with 80 of them direct jobs with the Baldacchino Group, the owners of the hotel.

The Prime Minister described this investment as a clear example of how the private sector is continuing to invest in the Maltese tourism product, confident in the economic stability of the country and the potential that Gozo offers as a quality tourist destination. “These investments not only improve the experience of tourists who visit us, but also create new jobs and contribute to economic growth”, stressed Prime Minister Abela.

The next phase of the investment in the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz will focus on the renovation of other rooms, restaurants, and the spa together with initiatives related to clean energy. “Investments like these are giving a clear signal that the future of tourism in Gozo and Malta should be one that focuses on quality, sustainability and innovation”, said the Prime Minister. “This ongoing investment not only strengthens the Gozitan tourism product but also shows how the Government is continuing to create a favourable climate for the tourism industry to continue to grow and invest in Malta and Gozo”, concluded Dr Abela.
