Drugs find at Freeport
On Wednesday afternoon, police, together with Customs Department officers, seized 98 kg of drugs suspected to be cocaine at the Freeport.
The drugs were found hidden in a container coming from Ecuador and destined for the port of Genoa.
The container, which contained frozen shrimp boxes, raised suspicion with Customs officials during a routine inspection. From further inspections, four bags containing the alleged substance were found between the boxes.
Police investigations and a Magisterial Inquiry are ongoing.
