Investment by two Gozitan companies as a result of aid allocated by the Government

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited two Gozitan companies that benefited from public and European funds under different schemes including those operated by Malta Enterprise. This led to these businesses being able to carry out investments that strengthen their operations.

One of the companies is also working from a space allocated to it by INDIS. The first visit took the Prime Minister to the company Merit Precision Tools Ltd and Merit Malta Ltd in the Xewkija industrial zone which specialises in the manufacture of precision tools among others to export them to more than fifty countries around the world. In fact, this company benefited from financing allocated from European funds so that it could make an investment in an Injection Moulding Machine to increase its operations and productivity in the sector. Here the Prime Minister met with the company’s management while speaking to the workers present as it was explained that this company also operates from Malta, thus offering quality jobs for both Maltese and Gozitan workers.

The second visit saw Prime Minister Robert Abela visit the company Tabone Glass Ltd which is also based in Xewkija. A family company that was founded 27 years ago and which over time has grown substantially so that today it has established itself as one of the leaders in the glass manufacturing industry. In fact, the growth it has experienced over the years led to it relocating to a larger space in the Xewkija Industrial Park in favour of more efficient operations. In addition, this company has implemented two projects co-financed by European funds. Here, assistance was provided where more than half of it came from the largest package of European funds negotiated by the Prime Minister himself back in 2020.

These projects included Automatic Insulating Glass Production Line, carriage and loading equipment and Sealing Robot among others.

Accompanied by the Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri, the Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the continuous investment that these businesses are making in order to continue to thrive in our country’s diversified economy while providing quality jobs. Dr Abela also pointed out the importance of European funds in order to continue to improve and push forward the employment sector in our country. “While I thank the businesses that are implementing projects with the help of European funds, I continue to encourage enterprises in our country to present their proposals for ambitious projects through which they can grow their businesses, strengthen our country’s economy but above all facilitate and improve the work of Maltese and Gozitan workers,” concluded the Prime Minister.
