VisitMalta to launch the Military Tourism Segment in collaboration with Heritage Malta and Commonwealth War Graves Association

VisitMalta is excited to announce a new addition to the island’s diverse tourism product.
Military tourism is set to become the latest feature in Malta and Gozo’s extensive portfolio.
This initiative aims to increase public awareness of Malta’s rich military heritage.

The new military tourism segment will be officially launched during the Remembrance
Weekend, with a comprehensive calendar of events taking place from Friday, 8th November
till Monday the 11th of November.

These events are designed to showcase Malta’s historical significance in military history,
including its fortifications, monuments, remembrance cemeteries, and other heritage sites.
The Maltese islands are well-positioned to attract visitors interested in military history. With
its unique fortifications, war monuments, and cemeteries that honour fallen soldiers, Malta
offers an immersive and holistic interpretation of its military past. VisitMalta believes that this new tourism segment will successfully draw more visitors to discover these remarkable sites in this evolving market.

Malta Tourism Authority CEO Carlo Micallef commented: “With the official launch of the
Military Tourism Niche, VisitMalta continues with its strategy to promote the Maltese Islands
as a destination offering a unique, enriching, and memorable holiday to attract quality
tourism that chooses the destination for what it offers rather than for the price. The military tourism niche is another product that offers a new perspective of the Islands to an audience that so far has not been tapped fully,” concluded Mr. Micallef.
