Woods names U21 squad ahead of European qualifiers against Hungary and Spain

Malta U21 coach Ivan Woods has named a 28-man squad ahead of the upcoming UEFA European U21 Championship Qualifiers against Hungary and Spain.

Malta will take on Hungary on Thursday 10th October 2024 at 20:00hrs at the Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium in Budapest, Hungary. This will then be followed by another away match, this time around against Spain on Tuesday 15th October 2024 at 18:00hrs at the Municipal Nuevo Mirador in Algeciras, Spain.

These two encounters will wrap up Group B of the UEFA European U21 Championship Qualifiers.

The squad has a number of new faces and returning players, including Sean Gatt and Lucas Caruana, whose performances at club level have earned them a spot in the team. Jake Vassallo has also returned to the U21 setup having gained useful experience during his time with the Senior National Team in the previous international window.

Isaiah Chukunyere has retained his place in the U21 squad after receiving his first call-up last September.

Basil Tuma and Mattias Ellul, both players who have featured recently for the U21 team, have been called up to the senior national squad.
