Nicolette Ghirxi, aged 48, was found dead in her apartment in Birkirkara on Monday morning. She had previously reported the man suspected of her murder over e-mails and messages following a break-up in their relationship.
Police received a report of a disturbance at a hotel in St Julian’s. Officers were confronted by a man apparently armed with a gun. During a lengthy stand-off the suspect told officers that he had killed Nocolette Ghirxi in her apartment. He then tried to rush towards the police brandishing his weapon. Officers then opened fire killing the man.
The dead man was named as Edward Johnson.
