The Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes inaugurated a new social housing project in Bormla.
“With an investment of just under half a million euros, today we can say that we have turned an abandoned building into a wonderful social housing project in the heart of the community,” stated Minister Galdes. He explained that extensive work was done to refurbish this building, as well as erecting a new floor, so that in this building there are now three new social housing apartments.
“I note with pleasure that while we have done the necessary work to bring this building back to life, we have also kept the characteristics of this ancient building, including the well that was found. Therefore, the beneficiaries will enjoy the authentic characteristics that the location of Bormla offers”, the minister continued to explain.
This project, which was carried out in collaboration with the Housing Authority and Housing Maintenance and Embellishment Ltd, will offer a better quality of life to the beneficiaries. The same project was very well received by the local residents, as today, from an abandoned building, a building with wonderful aesthetics, and with a most important social goal, is being given back to the Bormla community.
“This project continues to show the non-stop work that we are doing in order to transform our spaces, into assets that will be of benefit to the whole society. A project like this continues to show our willingness as a government to continue working in favor of social, affordable and dignified housing for our people”, concluded the minister.
