For the first time, Malta has hosted the Green Vision Summit and Expo. This conference brings together over 650 foreign delegates and 40 distinguished guests from Iceland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ghana, Germany, India, and others.
This summit brings together foreign experts with local ones to discuss how they can deal with the theme of sustainability among Maltese society. The ultimate thought is that through this same discussion, private companies will be able to tangibly advocate sustainable practices in their daily operations.
This conference was also addressed by the Minister for Tourism and Public Cleanliness Clayton Bartolo and the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti.
Minister Clayton Bartolo said that sustainability is particularly crucial when it comes to the tourism industry. “Our ultimate vision is to build a tourism model based on quality, authenticity and sustainability by 2030. For this purpose we have set up the first Maltese Tourism Observatory within the Maltese Tourism Authority to oversee the implementation of the Maltese Tourism Strategy, which also includes a framework of sustainable initiatives,” stressed the minister.
Parliamentary Secretary Keith Azzopardi Tanti praised the role of Aġenzija Żgħaġa and the MCST in supporting initiatives such as Green Vision, where they are giving the opportunity to young people to continue fostering innovation. “Our youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow; but they are the change makers of today. Through their tireless creativity and determination, they are driving progress in ways that inspire us especially in the sustainable development sector,” continued the parliamentary secretary.
