The Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri met with the Gozo team which for the first time will take part in the 44th edition of the Rolex Middlesea Race, with the boat Gozo Dream.
“The Ministry for Gozo was at the forefront so that this dream for this ambitious project becomes a reality and continues to give Gozo a good name. We believe in sports and are committed to giving our support so that Gozitan sportsmen continue to improve their skills and also have the best facilities,” repeated Minister Camilleri.
Through the government’s financial aid, Gozo will be represented in this international sailing event, and the boat has been equipped to be more competitive. Noel Grech who is skipper and the owner of the boat thanked the Ministry for Gozo for the help they got so that they could participate for the first time in this prestigious competition while he said that they look forward to more competitions like this.
The experienced Gozitan crew will be made up of Noel Grech, Joel Xibberras, Dr Simon Mifsud, James Pace, Joe Sultana, Christopher Tabone, Victor Azzoppardi, Alex Mangion and Nils Adam. The Rolex Middlesea Race, which will be 606 nautical miles long, will start on Saturday 21 October, from Valletta.
